Littleton, NH – A Connecticut man is deceased and a woman injured following a single-vehicle crash that shut down part of Interstate 93 northbound Monday evening.
According to the New Hampshire State Police, troopers from the Troop F barracks responded at approximately 7 p.m. Monday to a crash involving a red 2017 Ram 1500 pickup truck on I-93 northbound, just south of Exit 42. Police say their preliminary investigation indicates that Laura Cassidy, 25, of Norwich, Connecticut, was driving northbound when she allegedly failed to negotiate a curve, causing the truck to strike a guard rail near mile marker 124.4. The vehicle left the roadway, rolled down an embankment, and came to rest near Industrial Park Road.
Police report Cassidy suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The passenger in the vehicle, identified as Robert Macdonald, 78, of Baltic, Connecticut, allegedly sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash.
Industrial Park Road and Interstate 93 northbound between exits 41 and 42 were closed for several hours Monday night while authorities investigated and cleared the scene. Members of the Littleton Police Department, Littleton Fire and Rescue, and the New Hampshire Department of Transportation assisted New Hampshire State Police at the site.
According to investigators, all aspects of the crash remain under investigation. Authorities encourage anyone with information related to the incident to contact Trooper Connor Coppin at (603) 451-9554 or Connor.M.Coppin@dos.nh.gov.
