Belmont, NH – A Belmont man was cited after a Saturday night crash involving a City of Laconia police cruiser that had been blocking traffic at a separate incident, according to New Hampshire State Police.
At approximately 8:05 p.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2025, troopers from Troop E responded to a collision at the intersection of Old Prescott Hill Road and Laconia Road in Belmont. The preliminary investigation found that a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado struck a Laconia Police Department cruiser that was stopped with emergency lights activated at the scene of an unrelated crash.
According to police, the officer assisting the Belmont Police Department was outside the cruiser when the impact occurred. No injuries were reported in the crash.
The driver of the Chevrolet, identified as Christopher Truett, 37, of Belmont, was cited for negligent driving, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, inspection, and obedience to a police officer.
Authorities said the road was closed for roughly 30 minutes while troopers conducted their investigation and both vehicles were towed from the scene.
