Manchester, N.H. – Intense rainfall and scattered thunderstorms are expected to sweep through Manchester Monday evening, raising concerns for flash flooding and dangerous driving conditions, especially along I-293 and local roads.

According to the National Weather Service in Gray, Maine, the heaviest rain is forecast to begin after 6 p.m. Monday, July 14, as slow-moving thunderstorms move into southern New Hampshire. Some storms may produce torrential downpours, quickly leading to localized flash flooding—particularly in urban areas and spots with poor drainage. Motorists should plan for reduced visibility and the potential for ponding on roads. Avoid travel on low-lying streets and consider alternate routes if water covers the roadway.

Manchester, Nashua, and Concord could all experience rapid water accumulation Monday night, with new rainfall amounts between a tenth and a quarter of an inch, except higher totals under thunderstorms. Central and southern New Hampshire counties—especially Hillsborough, Merrimack, and Rockingham—are most at risk. The National Weather Service advises residents to charge mobile devices, secure outdoor items, and monitor local alerts.

The unsettled pattern continues Tuesday and Wednesday, with high temperatures climbing to the mid-90s and mostly sunny skies. A brief break from storms is expected midweek, but another chance of thunderstorms returns Thursday afternoon.

Flash flood risk remains elevated Monday night, with additional advisories possible if storms stall. Stay tuned for updates and check road conditions before commuting.
