Londonderry, NH – A New Hampshire State Police cruiser was hit Monday evening after a driver failed to follow the state’s “Move Over Law” on Interstate 93.

According to New Hampshire State Police, the crash happened at 5:20 p.m. when Trooper Mark Lingerman was conducting a traffic stop on I-93 southbound near Exit 4. Lingerman’s cruiser was parked in the breakdown lane with its emergency lights activated.

While Lingerman was speaking with the stopped motorist, a Subaru Forester driven by 82-year-old Margret Lambert of Litchfield failed to move over and struck the trooper’s cruiser. Neither Lambert, the stopped driver, nor Trooper Lingerman were injured in the crash.

Lambert was cited for violating RSA 265:37-a, New Hampshire’s “Move Over Law,” which requires drivers to slow down and move over when approaching emergency vehicles with flashing lights. Violators may face fines and increased penalties for repeat offenses.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact Sgt. Kyle Foster at (603) 223-4381 or via email at Kyle.B.Foster@dos.nh.gov.
