Manchester, NH – Strong thunderstorms could rattle parts of New Hampshire by Sunday afternoon, with hail and gusty winds posing hazards along I-93 and across the southern part of the state.

According to the National Weather Service in Gray, Maine, isolated strong to severe thunderstorms are expected to develop after 3 p.m. Sunday, primarily affecting southwest and central New Hampshire. These storms may bring wind gusts over 40 mph and pockets of small hail. Rainfall could total up to half an inch in affected areas, reducing visibility and increasing the risk of localized flooding on low-lying roads.

Residents from Manchester to Nashua should stay weather-aware and prepare for fast-moving cells Sunday evening. If traveling, especially along Route 101 and I-93, be alert to changing conditions. NWS recommends delaying non-essential trips during the height of the storm activity.

Storm chances continue through Monday, with showers likely both day and night. Rain will persist into Tuesday, with an 80% chance of precipitation and a high near 59°F. Tuesday night could see heavy downpours, with up to 90% coverage and cooler temps dipping to 53°F. Showers will taper midweek, with Wednesday partly sunny and dry before rain chances return Thursday and Friday.

This prolonged wet stretch marks a clear shift into spring’s stormier season. Weather spotters are encouraged to report hail, wind damage, or flooding through official NWS channels.

More alerts could follow as the week progresses. Stay tuned to local advisories and keep your NOAA Weather Radio or mobile alerts on through midweek.
