New Hampshire – A prolonged winter storm brought widespread snowfall across New Hampshire from January 23 through January 26, with top totals reaching 16 inches, according to compiled storm reports.

The highest snowfall total reported in the state was 16.0 inches in Newton, 2 miles west, marking the snowiest observed location in New Hampshire during the multi-day event. Several additional communities across southern New Hampshire reported totals exceeding a foot, reflecting the storm’s sustained impact.

Among other high-end reports, Plaistow recorded 14.0 inches, while New Boston (1 mile northwest) measured 13.0 inches. New Ipswich (2 miles south) and Salem (1 mile north) each reported 12.5 inches, placing them among the hardest-hit locations.

Additional totals include 12.0 inches in Derry (3 miles east-northeast) and 11.5 inches in Hampstead. Snowfall totals across much of southern New Hampshire generally ranged from 11 to 16 inches, with lighter amounts reported farther north.

Snow accumulated steadily over multiple days rather than falling in a single burst, prolonging hazardous travel conditions across the state. Major corridors including Interstates 93, 89, and U.S. Route 101 experienced periods of slick roads and reduced visibility, especially during overnight and early morning hours.

Cleanup efforts continued after snowfall ended as cold temperatures limited melting and allowed snowpack to persist. Narrowed roadways, snow-covered sidewalks, and restricted parking remained concerns across many communities.

The January 23–26 storm ranks among the more significant winter snow events of the season for New Hampshire, adding substantially to seasonal snowfall totals across the state.
