Manchester, N.H. – Storms will slam into southern New Hampshire Saturday with widespread rain and possible thunderstorms bringing hazardous driving conditions, especially along NH Route 3A.

According to the National Weather Service, Manchester could see up to three-quarters of an inch of rain on May 31, with the heaviest showers arriving in the afternoon. Northeast winds will shift northwest by evening, possibly gusting during downpours. Rain is expected to taper late Saturday night, but lingering showers may still impact early Sunday plans.

While Saturday will be cool and damp with highs near 68°F, summer-like temperatures return quickly. Sunday, June 1 brings partly sunny skies with highs in the mid-60s. Monday warms into the low 70s under mostly sunny conditions, and by Tuesday, highs rebound to 77°F with full sun. Wednesday brings the warmest stretch yet, reaching near 83°F—marking the region’s first real taste of summer.

No official alerts are in place yet, but drivers are urged to avoid water-covered roads during Saturday’s storm. Residents should secure outdoor items and stay weather-aware through Sunday.

Canadian wildfire smoke may linger early next week, limiting visibility or aggravating allergies, though major disruptions are not expected.

Extended Outlook (June 1–5):

  • Sunday (June 1): Showers early, then clearing. High 65°F.
  • Monday (June 2): Mostly sunny, high 72°F.
  • Tuesday (June 3): Sunny, high 77°F.
  • Wednesday (June 4): Mostly sunny and warm, high 83°F.
  • Thursday (June 5): Slight shower chance, high near 82°F.

More summer heat is possible by the second weekend of June. Stay tuned for updated advisories.
