Concord, NH – Authorities are investigating a tragic incident that began in Troy, New Hampshire, and ended with a fatal shooting on the Piscataqua River Bridge in Kittery, Maine.
Attorney General John M. Formella announced that a New Hampshire man allegedly killed a woman at a Troy residence overnight. He then drove to the Piscataqua River Bridge on Interstate 95. Police confronted him on the bridge early Thursday, leading to an officer-involved shooting that resulted in the man’s death.
According to the Attorney General’s Office, police also discovered the body of an 8-year-old child in the man’s vehicle on the bridge. The child had sustained fatal injuries, though the details remain unclear.
There is no current threat to the public. The I-95 Piscataqua River Bridge remains closed while police investigate. Authorities are urging motorists to use alternate routes as traffic diverts to other nearby bridges.
Officials are working closely with Maine’s Attorney General and State Police. Further information will be released as the investigation continues.
