Manchester, NH – A collision involving a tractor-trailer and a compact car on Interstate 293 in Manchester led to a dramatic scene Friday morning, with the tractor-trailer left hanging over the edge of the Granite Street overpass. The accident prompted the closure of the highway for several hours.

At approximately 6:35 a.m. Friday, New Hampshire State Police Troopers from the Troop B barracks responded to mile marker 6.4 on I-293 southbound. They found the tractor-trailer, driven by Tyler Warner, 24, of Canaan, entangled in a guardrail and precariously hanging over the overpass after a crash with a 2007 Toyota Yaris.

According to police, the Yaris, driven by Abel San Agustin Tolentino, 33, of Manchester, made an unsafe lane change, causing Warner to swerve. The initial collision caused the Yaris to spin out and face northbound in the southbound lanes, leading Warner to take further evasive action, ultimately losing control of the tractor-trailer.

Both drivers sustained minor injuries and were transported to Elliott Hospital. The southbound lanes and Exit 5 off-ramp were closed for about six hours, with traffic diverted at the Amoskeag Rotary.

The crash remains under investigation, and no charges have been filed at this time.
