Manchester, N.H. – Triple-digit heat index values could impact much of Maine and New Hampshire from Sunday morning through Monday evening, prompting a Heat Advisory across the region just in time for the end of the holiday weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Gray, a Heat Advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. Sunday to 8 p.m. Monday, with expected heat index values reaching up to 100°F in parts of southern, central, and northern New Hampshire as well as southwest and western Maine.

Cities including Manchester, Nashua, Portland, and Lewiston may see actual highs between 93°F and 94°F on Sunday and Monday, with overnight lows remaining in the 70s—limiting relief. Hot temperatures combined with elevated humidity may increase the risk of heat-related illnesses, especially for older adults and those without access to air conditioning.

Residents are urged to stay hydrated, avoid outdoor activity during peak heat, and check on vulnerable neighbors. Cooling centers may be activated in larger cities like Portland and Manchester if needed.

The advisory covers areas from York and Androscoggin Counties in Maine to Rockingham and Hillsborough in New Hampshire, and includes popular tourist towns like Old Orchard Beach, Wolfeboro, and Conway.

More updates are expected if conditions worsen or if the advisory is extended.
