Manchester, N.H. – Drivers in southern New Hampshire should prepare for dangerous conditions Tuesday morning as dense fog cuts visibility on I-93, I-293, and local roadways. The National Weather Service warns commuters to slow down, use low-beam headlights, and allow extra travel time through midmorning.

According to the National Weather Service in Gray, Maine, fog will blanket the Manchester area before 9 a.m. Tuesday, September 9. Temperatures will hold in the upper 40s overnight before climbing toward a comfortable high near 73 under mostly sunny skies by afternoon. Calm winds shifting east at 5 mph could help fog linger into the morning commute.

Manchester residents should expect patchy fog again Tuesday night, especially in low-lying areas near the Merrimack River and rural roadways. Overnight lows will dip into the mid-40s, creating cooler conditions before skies clear. By Wednesday, mostly sunny weather will return, pushing highs back into the 70s.

Travelers should remain alert on back roads, especially Route 101 and areas around Hooksett and Bedford where fog tends to settle. Emergency officials urge drivers to allow extra braking distance and avoid distractions until visibility improves.

Warmer, drier air arrives Thursday with highs climbing into the low 80s. Nights remain cool, generally in the upper 40s, making for a classic early September pattern of chilly mornings followed by warm afternoons.

Conditions look favorable for outdoor plans heading into the weekend. Sunshine and mild highs in the 70s dominate Friday through Sunday, though fog could still form early in the mornings.
