Shelburne, NH – A Gorham man was killed and two others seriously injured following a head-on crash on Route 2 near the Maine border late Monday afternoon.

According to New Hampshire State Police, troopers from Troop F responded to the two-vehicle collision at approximately 5:14 p.m. on March 24. Investigators determined a 2018 Jeep Cherokee and a 2004 Honda Accord collided head-on, resulting in significant injuries to all involved.

The driver of the Honda Accord, identified as 65-year-old Claude Desilets of Gorham, was treated at the scene but later died from his injuries. The Jeep Cherokee’s driver and passenger were transported to Androscoggin Valley Hospital with serious injuries, police said.

Both lanes of Route 2 were closed for nearly five hours as emergency crews cleared the scene and conducted an initial investigation. The Gorham Fire & Rescue Department assisted on site.

Authorities say the crash remains under investigation. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Trooper Brandon Girardi at Brandon.M.Girardi@dos.nh.gov or call (603) 846-3333.

Route 2 is a heavily traveled corridor connecting New Hampshire and Maine. Monday’s crash underscores ongoing safety concerns in this stretch, which has seen multiple serious incidents in recent years.
