Boston, MA – A winter weather advisory is in effect for much of Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and northern Connecticut from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday as a mix of snow, sleet, and ice is expected to create hazardous travel conditions.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Boston, affected areas could see 1 to 4 inches of snow and sleet accumulation, with a light glaze of ice. The advisory covers all of Massachusetts east of the Berkshires, most of Rhode Island except Block Island, and northern Connecticut.
Commuters should prepare for slippery roads during both the morning and evening rush hours. Officials urge drivers to slow down and use caution, as untreated surfaces may become slick.
This system will move in early Thursday morning and taper off by the evening. While snowfall totals are not expected to be significant, even a light ice coating could make sidewalks and roads treacherous.
Residents are advised to check local forecasts and road conditions before traveling. For updates, visit weather.gov/box.
