Concord, NH – A wintry mix is creating hazardous travel conditions across parts of Maine and New Hampshire this morning, with impacts expected to linger through midday.

According to the National Weather Service in Gray, ME, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until noon EDT Thursday for portions of western and south-central Maine as well as northern and central New Hampshire. The advisory highlights a mix of snow, sleet, and ice leading to dangerous road conditions, especially during the Thursday morning commute.

Snow totals across the region are expected to reach up to 3 inches, with sleet accumulations near half an inch and ice glazing up to one-tenth of an inch. Wind gusts may also reach 35 mph, further complicating driving in exposed areas. Temperatures will remain below freezing during the event, allowing precipitation to quickly freeze on untreated surfaces.

Affected communities include Berlin, Conway, Concord, Rumford, and Rangeley, among others. Drivers are urged to slow down, allow extra travel time, and check NewEngland511.org for real-time road updates.
