Boston, MA – A dangerous heat wave continues across Southern New England today, with temperatures feeling as hot as 105°F in cities like Worcester, Hartford, and Providence. A Heat Advisory remains in effect until 7 p.m. Wednesday.
According to the National Weather Service in Boston, high temperatures will climb into the mid-90s inland, while coastal areas and the Cape and Islands will hover in the 80s. Combined with high humidity, it’ll feel significantly hotter—especially from Springfield to New Haven, where the heat index is projected between 100°F and 105°F.
The advisory covers most of Massachusetts east of the Berkshires, along with much of northern Connecticut and all of Rhode Island. Boston, Worcester, Providence, and Waterbury are all within the warning zone. The NWS warns of an increased risk of heat exhaustion and stroke, especially for those without access to air conditioning or working outdoors.
Residents are urged to limit strenuous activity, stay in air-conditioned spaces, and check on vulnerable neighbors. Fans may not be sufficient to cool during this event, and hydration is critical.
The heat advisory remains in effect through 7 p.m. Wednesday, with additional alerts possible if high humidity persists into Thursday.
