Concord, New Hampshire – A developing winter pattern is raising snow concerns across New England during the January 10–14 period, with interior and northern areas facing the highest risk for accumulating snowfall and disruptive travel.

According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, much of New England is favored to see above-normal precipitation during the 6–10 day window, while temperatures trend above normal overall. Even with milder averages, colder nighttime conditions and higher terrain support snow or rain changing to snow across large portions of the region.

Northern and western Maine, including Aroostook and Somerset counties, remain favored for mostly snow with measurable accumulation possible. Across Vermont, the Green Mountains and Northeast Kingdom could see repeated snow events, especially during overnight hours. In New Hampshire, the White Mountains and North Country face a higher likelihood of snow compared to southern and coastal areas. Farther west, northern New York, including the Adirondacks and North Country, may see accumulating snow enhanced by terrain and colder air, with lake-enhanced snowfall possible east of Lake Ontario.

Travel impacts are most likely along mountain passes and key corridors such as I-89, I-93, Route 100, and the Adirondack Northway, where slick roads and reduced visibility could develop. Drivers should prepare for changing conditions, allow extra time, and monitor local alerts.

The overall pattern supports multiple snow chances rather than a single major storm. Additional winter advisories or regional snow alerts may be issued as the January 10–14 timeframe approaches and confidence in timing and accumulation details improves.
