Boston, Massachusetts – Snow will push into New York and spread across Vermont and Massachusetts by midday Friday, with heavier bands expected to develop before the evening commute, creating hazardous travel conditions across much of New England.

According to the National Weather Service Weather Prediction Center, a strengthening coastal system will bring widespread accumulating snow to eastern New York, including Albany and the Hudson Valley, before expanding into Vermont and much of Massachusetts during the afternoon and evening hours. Snowfall rates could intensify late Friday, quickly covering highways and secondary roads.

Interstate 90 from Albany to Boston, Interstate 87 in eastern New York and Interstate 89 through Vermont may see snow-covered stretches by late afternoon. In Massachusetts, I-95, Route 128 and the Massachusetts Turnpike are likely to become slick as snowfall becomes steadier. Gusty coastal winds may also develop, especially across eastern Massachusetts, potentially reducing visibility.

Exact totals will depend on the storm track, but plowable snowfall appears likely across much of the region. Residents should prepare for slower travel, allow extra commute time and monitor for winter weather advisories or warnings.

Snow may taper late Friday night into early Saturday, though icy patches could linger into the weekend. Additional updates are expected as the storm approaches.
