Boston, MA – A chilly, damp Sunday is underway across New England, with Hartford and Stamford among the warmest spots as temperatures edge into the upper 40s. Despite the end of steady rainfall by late morning, drizzle and low clouds continue to blanket the region through the afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service Boston office, areas from western Massachusetts to coastal Connecticut will see highs ranging from the upper 30s to near 50°F. Springfield, Waterbury, and New Haven will hover in the mid to upper 40s, while northern Massachusetts cities like Fitchburg and Lawrence will stay in the upper 30s to low 40s.
The raw, damp conditions are accompanied by lingering fog and overcast skies, creating a colder-than-average feel for late March. Typically, highs in these areas reach the low 50s this time of year.
Travelers are advised to use caution as patchy fog may reduce visibility throughout the day, especially along I-90 and I-95 corridors. Residents should dress in layers and plan for a damp, chilly afternoon outdoors.
Temperatures are expected to moderate slightly by Monday, with drier air moving in gradually. For updated forecasts, visit weather.gov/box.
