Boston, MA – A widespread storm system is set to drench much of southern New England on Monday, with rain probabilities peaking at 90% in parts of Connecticut and Massachusetts.
According to the National Weather Service Boston, the heaviest precipitation is expected between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday, particularly impacting New Haven, Hartford, and Pittsfield. Rain chances across the region begin increasing overnight Sunday, with steady showers likely during the Monday morning commute and continuing into the evening.
New Haven faces a 90% chance of rain from 6 a.m. through noon Monday, while Hartford and Pittsfield are forecast to see 85–90% rain likelihood during the same window. Boston, Providence, Springfield, and Worcester are also under a 65–75% chance of rainfall.
Forecasters warn that ponding on roads, reduced visibility, and slow travel conditions are possible, especially during peak commute hours. Drivers are urged to check local conditions and allow extra time.
Another round of showers may return by early Wednesday, with scattered rain probabilities ranging from 30% to 50% across central and eastern Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and coastal Connecticut.
Residents should secure outdoor items, clear storm drains, and prepare for potential localized flooding in poor drainage areas. Rainfall totals may vary but could exceed an inch in some areas.
