Boston, MA – Sweltering humidity is pushing feels-like temperatures into triple digits across Massachusetts today, creating dangerous conditions for outdoor activity and prompting widespread heat advisories.

According to the National Weather Service in Boston, heat index values are expected to reach between 100°F and 105°F in much of central and eastern Massachusetts, including cities like Boston, Worcester, and Springfield. The advisory remains in effect through 8 p.m. Tuesday, with forecasters warning of increased risk of heat-related illness during prolonged exposure or physical exertion.

Cities like Hartford, New Haven, and Providence are also seeing oppressive conditions, while coastal areas such as Hyannis and Nantucket may feel slightly cooler, hovering around 85–90°F. Interstate corridors I-90, I-91, and I-95 are expected to be especially hot for commuters.

Residents are urged to stay hydrated, avoid strenuous activity during peak afternoon hours, and check on vulnerable neighbors or elderly relatives. Those working outdoors should take frequent breaks and seek shade or air conditioning when possible.

Heat indices above 100°F fall into the “Danger” category per NOAA’s guidelines, raising risks of heat stroke, particularly for the elderly, children, and those without access to cooling.

More advisories may follow if temperatures and humidity persist into midweek.
