Boston, MA – A sharp cold front is bringing Massachusetts its first major temperature plunge of November, with highs expected to fall over 20 degrees from Friday into Saturday. Residents across the region, including Boston, Hartford, and Providence, should prepare for significantly colder days ahead before warmer conditions return mid-next week.
According to the National Weather Service, Friday’s daytime highs will peak around 73°F in Boston and nearby cities but will drop to the low 50s by Saturday. This temperature drop could make outdoor plans chilly, especially for those used to the recent unseasonably warm autumn days. Meanwhile, strong northwest winds may add to the brisk feeling, with gusts reaching up to 28 mph in some areas, especially along coastal roads.
Saturday’s Forecast calls for mostly sunny skies with temperatures lingering in the 50s across most of the region. Nighttime lows could dip to the high 30s, making it a good time to pull out winter coats. Inland areas like Springfield and Worcester will feel even colder, with lows possibly falling below 40°F.
Looking Ahead to Next Week, temperatures will begin to rise again by Tuesday, with highs potentially reaching the low 70s in several Massachusetts cities, including Boston. This midweek warm-up is expected to last only briefly before temperatures settle back into a more typical November range.
Massachusetts residents are advised to dress in layers this weekend and monitor weather conditions if traveling on major routes such as I-90 and I-93, where the sudden temperature drop could impact driving conditions, especially overnight.
