New DMV in Chicago’s Chinatown: ‘One-Stop-Shop’ Facility to Enhance Services for South Side

Chicago, IL – Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias is set to inaugurate the first-ever Secretary of State facility in Chicago’s Chinatown, aimed at serving the burgeoning South Side communities. 

Located at 2250 S. Canal St., this new DMV promises a “One-Stop-Shop” experience and is strategically placed to cater to residents from Chinatown, Pilsen, Bronzeville, Bridgeport, and the South Loop. 

The grand opening is scheduled for Monday, April 15, 2024, at 10:00 a.m.According to Secretary Giannoulias, the facility is part of broader modernization efforts which include programs like “Skip-the-Line” and “Do-It-Online,” designed to streamline services and enhance customer satisfaction. 

The facility will offer no-appointment, walk-in services where Illinoisans can apply for a REAL ID, renew driver’s licenses and vehicle registrations, and more, all from a single counter. Noteworthy local officials, including Alderwoman Nicole Lee, State Senator Celina Villanueva, and State Representative Theresa Mah, will also be in attendance to mark this significant community development.
