Dover, DE – The Delaware State Police announced that individuals preparing to apply for the state’s new handgun Permit to Purchase can now schedule fingerprinting appointments through IdentoGO, ahead of the program’s launch next month.
According to the State Bureau of Identification (SBI), fingerprinting is required as part of the background investigation process under the new law, which officially takes effect on November 16, 2025. Applicants are encouraged to complete both fingerprinting and firearms safety training early to avoid delays once the application portal opens.
Appointments are available exclusively online through IdentoGO, using Service Code 27S8N2 to ensure prints are properly routed for the permit process. Scheduling can be completed at uenroll.identogo.com.
Individuals must also complete an approved firearms safety training course before submitting their application. A list of certified instructors is available on the Permit to Purchase website, which is updated regularly as new trainers are approved.
Once the online system is live, SBI will begin processing applications. By law, the agency must issue or deny each permit within 30 days of receiving a complete application.
