New Castle, DE – A police pursuit in New Castle ended Wednesday night with two people taken into custody after a stolen vehicle was recovered, authorities said.

According to Delaware State Police, the incident unfolded around 8 p.m. Wednesday when a trooper patrolling Memorial Drive near North Dupont Parkway spotted a reportedly stolen Mitsubishi Outlander. The driver initially pulled over but then allegedly fled, prompting a pursuit that ended when the vehicle reached a dead end on Irwin Avenue.

Troopers said both the driver and passenger exited the vehicle and allegedly ran from the scene. After a brief foot pursuit, officers apprehended the driver, identified as 31-year-old Paige Patterson of Bear. Authorities said Patterson allegedly showed signs of impairment, and troopers later determined her driverโ€™s license was suspended.

Police allege the passenger, a 52-year-old Newark man, fled over a backyard fence before being located with assistance from the Delaware State Police Aviation Section. He was found in a nearby wooded area and taken into custody without further incident.

Investigators said Patterson was charged with multiple offenses, including allegedly receiving stolen property (felony), disregarding a police officer signal (felony), resisting arrest, driving while suspended or revoked, and driving under the influence of drugs. She was arraigned and committed to the Delores J. Baylor Womenโ€™s Correctional Institution on a $5,600 secured bond.

The male passenger was charged with allegedly resisting arrest, arraigned, and released on a $1,000 unsecured bond. Authorities said he was later committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on unrelated capiases.

Officials emphasized that all charges are allegations, and both individuals are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
