Elko, NV – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for Northern and Central Nevada from Sunday afternoon through early Tuesday morning, with snowfall expected to impact travel and daily commutes.
According to the National Weather Service in Elko, snow will begin falling at approximately 4 p.m. PST Sunday and continue through 4 a.m. PST Tuesday. Accumulations of 3 to 5 inches are expected across much of the affected region, with higher elevations, summits, and passes seeing up to 10 inches. The advisory covers Southern Lander, Southern Eureka, Northern Elko, and Southwest Elko counties, including the cities of Elko, Eureka, Spring Creek, and Jarbidge.
In Northern Lander and Northern Eureka counties, snow will primarily impact areas above 5,500 feet, with accumulations ranging from 2 to 3 inches, and localized totals of 5 inches at higher elevations.
The hazardous conditions are expected to make travel difficult, particularly during the Monday morning and evening commutes. Drivers are urged to slow down and exercise caution on the roads. Motorists can check real-time road conditions by dialing 511.
