Las Vegas, Nevada – Strong winds are whipping through Southern Nevada today, turning parts of I-15 and Clark County into dust-blown hazard zones.

According to the National Weather Service in Las Vegas, a Wind Advisory remains in effect until 11 p.m. PDT Saturday, with gusts reaching 50 mph across Las Vegas Valley, Red Rock Canyon, Spring Mountains, and into southern Clark County. Travelers on I-15, U.S. 95, and State Route 160 should prepare for blowing dust, low visibility, and difficult driving conditions—especially for high-profile vehicles.

Southwest winds will peak this afternoon, blowing at 20 to 30 mph, with gusts increasing into the early evening. Areas such as Henderson, Boulder City, and Searchlight are under the highest threat for flying debris, downed tree limbs, and scattered power outages. Outdoor items should be secured, and non-essential travel is discouraged until conditions improve tonight.

While the skies remain mostly clear, blowing dust and breezy weather will persist through sundown before calmer air returns Sunday. Sunday’s forecast looks calm and sunny, with a high near 83°F and light north breezes offering temporary relief.

But summer is knocking. By Tuesday and Wednesday, highs will climb to 90°F and 97°F, respectively, under sunny skies. Thursday and Friday will stay hot, with triple-digit heat possible by week’s end.

5-Day Forecast for Las Vegas:

  • Monday: Sunny, high near 82°F
  • Tuesday: Sunny, high near 90°F
