Las Vegas, Nevada – Drivers across southern Nevada should brace for blinding dust and powerful crosswinds Monday as gusts topping 55 mph sweep through the region.

According to the National Weather Service, a Wind Advisory is in effect from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. PDT on Monday, May 12, impacting Clark County, including Las Vegas, Henderson, Red Rock Canyon, and major highways such as US-95 and I-15. Wind speeds will range from 25 to 35 mph, with gusts as high as 55 mph, especially during the late morning and afternoon hours.

Travelers should expect sudden visibility drops due to blowing dust, especially in exposed desert stretches. High-profile vehicles, particularly on north-south roads, may struggle with strong crosswinds. Residents are urged to secure outdoor items and limit unnecessary travel, particularly during peak gust hours between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Tree limbs may fall, and localized power outages are possible. The NWS warns that even short trips could become hazardous under these spring wind conditions.

By Monday night, conditions begin to calm, but breezy weather will persist into Tuesday, which looks sunny and warm with a high of 78°F. The rest of the week trends mild and clear:

  • Wednesday: Sunny, high near 81°F
  • Thursday: Clear skies, warming to 86°F
  • Friday: Sunny and near 88°F
  • Saturday: Mostly sunny, high near 90°F
