Reno, Nev. – Hot, dry days are settling over Reno as temperatures rise toward the low 90s and stay there through much of next week, creating elevated fire danger and health concerns for vulnerable residents.

According to the National Weather Service, highs will hit 89°F on Friday and Saturday, then climb into the low 90s by Tuesday, with Wednesday and Thursday peaking near 93°F. Winds Friday night may gust up to 20 mph, potentially increasing wildfire risk in already dry terrain.

Daytime conditions will remain sunny and clear across Washoe County, including Sparks and Sun Valley. Overnight lows will hover in the upper 50s, offering only limited relief from the daytime heat. The extended stretch of calm, dry weather means little reprieve for those without air conditioning or working outdoors.

Officials urge residents to stay hydrated, limit strenuous activities during peak afternoon hours, and check on elderly neighbors or pets. Fire restrictions remain in effect across much of western Nevada due to persistent dry fuels and gusty wind potential.

The heat is expected to linger through at least Thursday, with no rainfall in sight. More advisories could be issued if wind speeds increase or fire danger worsens.
