Bishop, Calif. – Strong winds are sweeping across the Eastern Sierra Slopes through Wednesday night, with gusts topping 55 mph and creating hazardous travel conditions for high-profile vehicles. The National Weather Service in Las Vegas issued a Wind Advisory for the region, warning that unsecured objects could become airborne and minor power outages may occur.

According to the National Weather Service, west to southwest winds of 30 to 45 mph will continue until about 10 p.m. Wednesday. The advisory covers much of Inyo County, including rural highways and mountain corridors that often experience strong crosswinds.

Drivers along U.S. 395 and local mountain passes should use caution, especially during the afternoon and early evening when gusts peak. Residents are advised to secure outdoor furniture, trash bins, and other loose items that could be blown around.

Winds are expected to taper off late Wednesday night, but forecasters say another round of gusty conditions is possible later this week as weather systems continue to move through the Sierra region.

Warnings remain in effect through 10 p.m. Wednesday.
