Nevada’s high desert is bracing for powerful wind gusts this morning, and the air already feels restless across Reno. Loose branches sway, trash bins rattle, and drivers along I-580 and U.S. 395 are noticing crosswinds. The Wind Advisory remains in effect until 7 PM this evening.

The National Weather Service in Reno reports southwest winds between 15 and 25 mph today. Gusts may reach 40 mph in the Reno-Carson City-Minden area. Wind-prone stretches of Interstate 580 could see gusts between 50 and 65 mph. High-profile vehicles will feel the strongest push, especially late this morning into the afternoon.

Temperatures climb to near 59 degrees with mostly cloudy skies and a slight chance of rain after 4 PM. While precipitation remains limited, blowing dust and debris could reduce visibility at times. Secure outdoor objects now and use caution if traveling.

Conditions calm tonight, with lows near 43 degrees and only a slight rain chance. By Wednesday, sunshine returns and highs rebound to around 61 degrees. Skies clear Wednesday night, allowing temperatures to drop near 35.

That cooler air may create patchy slick spots early Thursday if any moisture lingers. However, sunshine dominates Thursday with highs near 65 degrees. Friday turns mostly cloudy but mild, with highs pushing 67 degrees.

The broader 6–10 day outlook favors above-normal temperatures across western Nevada. Early hints of Spring Warmth build into next week, offering a calmer pattern after today’s wind event.
