Las Vegas, Nevada – Sunburns could sneak up fast on Nevadans this holiday weekend as strong sunshine and warm temperatures blanket the region through Memorial Day.
According to the National Weather Service in Las Vegas, a mostly sunny and dry pattern will dominate southern Nevada through Monday, with daily highs in the upper 80s to low 90s. UV levels will peak between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., prompting a reminder to limit sun exposure and stay protected with SPF 15+ sunscreen, sunglasses, and wide-brimmed hats.
The advisory coincides with National Don’t Fry Day on Friday, May 23, a nationwide campaign promoting sun safety at the unofficial start of summer. In Clark County, residents heading to parks, pools, or hiking trails are urged to reapply sunscreen every two hours and wear lightweight protective clothing.
Tourists on the Las Vegas Strip and outdoor workers face elevated risks, especially during peak hours. “Even brief exposure can lead to sunburn and long-term skin damage,” the NWS cautioned.
Clear skies are expected to hold through Monday, but forecasters warn that UV exposure remains dangerous regardless of temperature. Additional updates may follow if conditions change or a heat advisory is issued.
