Las Vegas, Nevada – Dry winds and triple-digit temperatures are raising fire risks across southern Nevada today as a Red Flag Warning remains in effect until 8 p.m. Saturday. Fire weather conditions could rapidly escalate along I-15, U.S. 93, and across the desert outskirts of Clark and Lincoln counties, especially near Las Vegas.
According to the National Weather Service Las Vegas, southwest winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph combined with humidity levels as low as 8 percent are creating ideal conditions for wildfire spread. Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged, and residents are urged to secure loose items, limit open flames, and avoid dry brush areas.
Fire weather zones 461 through 466 in Nevada and zones 101–102 in northwest Arizona are most at risk. Saturday’s high near 103°F will continue the dangerous combo of dry heat and gusty wind, with similar conditions returning Sunday and Monday.
No rain is expected through midweek. The extreme heat will intensify next week, with highs peaking at 109°F by Tuesday. Anyone spending time outdoors should stay hydrated, limit sun exposure, and monitor local alerts.
