Nevada wakes up locked in a sharp winter chill this morning. Reno sits at just 21 degrees, and some neighborhoods dipped into the mid-teens before sunrise. The air feels biting and dry, with calm winds offering little relief.
Frost coats parked cars. Side streets sparkle in the early light. This is the kind of cold that can refreeze moisture quickly.
Highs only climb to around 41 degrees today under partly sunny skies. While sunshine helps, shaded roads and bridge decks along I-80 can stay slick through midmorning. Watch for isolated icy patches, especially where snowmelt refroze overnight. Flash freezing remains a concern this time of year.
Tonight turns cold again, with lows near 22 degrees. Sunday brings a noticeable shift. Mostly sunny skies push highs near 50 degrees. That’s a solid rebound from this morning’s freeze.
Monday turns even milder, reaching about 54 degrees under mostly sunny skies. Spring warmth starts to edge in. By Monday night into Tuesday, rain chances increase. Tuesday looks wetter, with highs in the low 50s and rain likely at times.
Midweek brings more unsettled weather. A chance of rain continues Wednesday, with snow levels near 6,800 feet. Valley floors stay mainly rain, but higher Sierra passes could see light snow. Snow levels lower slightly Wednesday night.
The 6–10 day outlook favors above-normal temperatures for western Nevada. After this winter vengeance, Reno trends milder into late week, with highs pushing the 60s by Friday.
