LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Southern Nevada’s stretch of hot, sunny days may give way to storms by Thursday evening, raising concerns for drivers. Motorists along I-15 and surface roads across Las Vegas could face slick conditions during peak evening travel.

According to the National Weather Service, a 20 percent chance of thunderstorms develops Thursday afternoon and evening, continuing into Friday. While widespread severe weather is not expected, gusty winds and lightning could create hazards for anyone traveling after sunset.

High temperatures remain near 95 degrees through Thursday before dropping slightly into the upper 80s this weekend. Cooler overnight lows in the low 70s may bring some relief after a stretch of hot fall afternoons.

Residents across Paradise, Summerlin, and North Las Vegas should remain weather-aware, particularly late Thursday. Keep devices charged and avoid flooded roadways. Outdoor activities, especially near Red Rock Canyon or Lake Mead, may be interrupted by sudden downpours.

Friday carries another chance of storms before skies clear by Saturday. The weekend looks calmer, with partly sunny skies and highs near 89. Still, the valley should expect breezy evenings, which may help ease lingering heat.

Thunderstorm chances taper by late Friday, but forecasters caution that additional fall storm systems could arrive next week. Travelers should monitor NWS updates and allow extra time if heading toward I-15 or U.S. 95.
