Las Vegas, Nevada – Triple-digit heat, gusty winds, and patchy dust will hammer the Las Vegas Valley on Sunday, triggering spring weather alerts across Southern Nevada.
According to the National Weather Service, Sunday’s high is expected to reach 98°F with winds from the south increasing throughout the day. Gusts could reach 25 mph by the afternoon and intensify to 30 mph Sunday night. Drivers on I-15 and I-515 should prepare for reduced visibility and shifting lanes due to sudden dust surges. Patchy blowing dust may persist through Monday evening.
Air quality could briefly worsen, and the heat may pose health risks, especially for sensitive groups. Residents should stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity during peak heat, and secure loose outdoor items before winds increase. The combination of heat and blowing dust is typical for this transitional period between spring and summer but still presents hazards for outdoor workers, travelers, and those with respiratory conditions.
Sunday night will remain warm with a low of 73°F and winds gusting as high as 37 mph. Monday brings continued wind with highs around 91°F and dust likely in the morning.
Conditions improve by Tuesday, with sunny skies and a cooler high of 76°F. Temperatures climb again midweek, peaking near 89°F by Friday. Clear skies and dry air dominate the five-day outlook, but wind events like this weekend’s remain a possibility.
Dust and wind alerts may continue through Monday night. Stay tuned for updates from NWS Las Vegas.
