Nevada Weather Alert: Gusty Winds and Light Precipitation Expected Near I-15 Today

Las Vegas, NV – Gusty winds and light precipitation are forecast for parts of Nevada today, creating potential hazards northwest of I-15. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued several advisories, with gusts up to 50 mph expected in some areas.

According to the NWS, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for the Eastern Sierra above 7,000 feet until 10 p.m. Saturday, bringing snow and reduced visibility. Meanwhile, Wind Advisories are active for the Owens Valley and Spring Mountains from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., affecting routes like US 395. Motorists are urged to exercise caution, particularly near mountain passes and open valleys where strong crosswinds may occur.

In Las Vegas, calmer conditions are expected for most of the day, with highs near 62°F and partly cloudy skies. Winds will increase tonight, with speeds reaching 17 mph and gusts up to 28 mph after midnight.

Looking ahead, Sunday will bring sunny skies and highs near 63°F, followed by cooler nights with temperatures dropping to 38°F. The week begins with steady sunshine, reaching highs of 64°F by Tuesday and 65°F on Wednesday. Overnight lows will stay in the upper 30s to lower 40s, offering mild, dry conditions ideal for outdoor plans.

Residents near the Sierra should prepare for winter driving conditions, while those in Las Vegas can expect pleasant weather to continue. Travelers on highways like I-15 and US 395 should remain vigilant as winds persist throughout the day.
