Las Vegas, NV – Temperatures across southern Nevada are set to dip sharply by Friday, following a warm mid-week stretch. Residents and travelers should prepare for a significant change in weather as a cold front brings lower temperatures and unsettled conditions to the Las Vegas Valley and surrounding areas.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Las Vegas, highs will be near 70°F through Thursday, but a cold front will push temperatures down to around 64°F by Friday. Saturday could see even cooler conditions, with daytime highs struggling to reach 59°F and nighttime lows dropping to the low 40s. Residents in rural areas, such as Bishop and Caliente, should brace for even chillier evenings, with temperatures falling into the 30s and potentially dipping below freezing in certain high-elevation areas.
The NWS urges residents to prepare for the colder nights by checking heating systems and taking steps to protect pets and sensitive plants from the upcoming freeze. Gusty winds may accompany the arrival of the colder air, especially along major roadways like Interstate 15. Drivers should be alert for sudden changes in visibility and crosswinds as the cold front approaches.
Looking further ahead, temperatures are expected to remain below normal through early next week, with highs around 61°F to 62°F and lows in the upper 30s. Sunshine will persist throughout much of the forecast, though early next week may bring some cloud cover as the cold front fully exits the region.
