Nevada – A mild, quiet start settles over Reno this morning, but flags will snap and dust may lift by afternoon as winds quickly strengthen across the Truckee Meadows.
According to the National Weather Service in Reno, sunny skies will push temperatures to near 81°F today. Winds increase out of the west by late morning, reaching 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph through the afternoon and early evening.
Across Washoe County, conditions remain dry, but the wind will be the main concern. Drivers along I-80 and I-580 should prepare for sudden crosswinds, especially near open stretches and elevated ramps. High-profile vehicles may feel the strongest impacts. Secure loose outdoor items before winds pick up.
Midweek stays warm but breezy. Highs reach near 78°F Wednesday with continued afternoon gusts. By late day, winds ease slightly as cooler air begins to move in.
A noticeable shift arrives by Thursday, March 26. Temperatures drop to around 67°F under mostly sunny skies, and winds calm significantly. Nights turn colder, dipping into the upper 30s, bringing a crisp feel to early mornings.
By Friday and Saturday, a steady rebound brings highs back into the 70s with lighter winds and dry conditions continuing.
Residents should stay aware of rapidly changing wind conditions today. Blowing dust could briefly reduce visibility in open areas. Plan travel accordingly and keep both hands on the wheel during stronger gusts.
