LAS VEGAS — The Las Vegas Monorail prepares for the holiday rush with extended hours.
The week between Christmas and New Year’s Eve is one of the busiest periods in Las Vegas, with thousands of tourists relying on the Monorail for transportation. Last year, the city welcomed around 3.4 million tourists in December, and this year is expected to bring large volumes as well.
The monorail is one of the best ways to travel on the Strip. Under standard operating rules, the Monorail runs:
- Monday 7 a.m.–midnight
- Tue–Thu 7 a.m.–2 a.m
- Fri–Sun 7 a.m.–3 a.m
Trains arrive every 4-8 minutes at the seven stations along the east side of the Strip. On New Year’s Eve, the train will run round-the-clock, remaining one of the most reliable transportation options as the Strip closes to all vehicle traffic leading into 2026.
Tickets for one ride are $6, but an unlimited day pass is $ 15, which is often the better choice if you plan to attend multiple events. During the holidays, it’s recommended to make use of online eTickets for a faster experience and leave early for events, as the trains and stations will see larger crowds than usual.
Travelers should also plan their routes ahead of time, as the Monorail runs exclusively along the east side of the Strip, which may require additional walking to reach specific venues.
