LAS VEGAS — Every year, St. Patrick’s Day turns the city into an all-day pedestrian-heavy zone as celebrations take place.
St. Patrick’s Day is one of the city’s popular holidays, where streets are transformed by walkable open-air celebrations. The celebrations are characterized by huge volumes of foot traffic. For example, the annual Henderson St. Patrick’s Parade drew in more than 40,000 attendees last year. The Strip also saw large volumes of pedestrian traffic.
Drivers should be aware that certain corridors will be restricted to foot traffic only, like the annual Las Vegas Firefighters St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Challenge Games in the downtown area, starting from Fremont Street Experience to Third Street. While the Strip doesn’t typically close to vehicle traffic like New Year’s Eve celebrations, visitors can expect higher volumes of vehicle and pedestrian traffic than normal in these areas.
Police presence in these areas increases to help direct and protect partygoers while managing crowd control. Officials remind partygoers to expect delays in ride shares and to plan ahead for traffic disruptions.
