Reno, Nev. – Triple-digit heat won’t strike Reno this Sunday, but dry, breezy air and a high near 93°F will keep conditions uncomfortable for outdoor plans and travel.

According to the National Weather Service, light winds in the morning will increase to 5 to 10 mph Sunday afternoon, with gusts possibly reaching 20 mph near I-80 and I-580 corridors. While skies remain sunny, dry southwest winds and low humidity could elevate fire danger in exposed areas. Drivers should be alert to gusty crosswinds, especially on elevated highways and mountain passes.

By Sunday night, temperatures will dip into the upper 50s, offering some relief before another round of upper 80s and sunshine returns Monday through midweek. Monday’s high is expected near 87°F, with similar breezy afternoon conditions and wind gusts up to 25 mph — a pattern that repeats Tuesday. While no heat advisories are in effect, residents should hydrate, limit strenuous activity, and avoid peak sun hours between noon and 4 p.m.

Temperatures will level off through Friday, with sunny skies and highs near 89°F each day. Nighttime lows will consistently drop into the mid-50s, creating cooler overnight conditions that could offer a break from daytime heat.

Warnings are not currently active, but NWS updates are expected if gusts intensify or fire weather concerns increase.
