Las Vegas, NV – Another brutal heatwave locks in over southern Nevada, with temperatures in Las Vegas set to soar to 104°F by Thursday afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service, a persistent high-pressure ridge will drive highs above 100°F every day through Monday, peaking at 109°F by the end of the weekend. Thursday’s heat will intensify by late morning, with the most dangerous hours between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Residents and visitors are urged to avoid prolonged sun exposure, especially near I-15 and US-95 where radiant heat from pavement can push feels-like temperatures even higher.
Light southeast winds may offer limited relief, but calm early-morning conditions will quickly give way to sweltering midday sun. Thursday night offers only slight cooling, with lows hovering near 78°F — not enough for meaningful overnight relief.
Clark County officials recommend using cooling centers, staying hydrated, and checking on elderly neighbors. Outdoor workers should schedule breaks, wear light-colored clothing, and avoid peak heat hours when possible.
This heatwave marks one of the season’s earliest prolonged extreme events and may test power infrastructure in Paradise, Henderson, and Summerlin through the weekend.
