Las Vegas, NV – Extreme heat returns to southern Nevada Monday with life-threatening temperatures expected across Clark and Nye counties by late morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Las Vegas, an Extreme Heat Warning remains in effect from 11 a.m. PDT Monday until 9 p.m. for the Las Vegas Valley, Lake Mead, Death Valley National Park, and surrounding cities including Pahrump, Boulder City, and Mesquite. Daytime highs will surge to 114°F in Las Vegas and reach a blistering 125°F in Death Valley.
Heat-related illness risk will spike sharply, especially for those without air conditioning or who spend extended time outdoors. Drivers should avoid prolonged travel on major corridors like I-15, I-515, and U.S. Route 95, where pavement temperatures may exceed 160°F.
Never leave children or animals in parked cars — interior temps can become deadly in minutes. OSHA recommends outdoor workers schedule frequent rest breaks in the shade and know the signs of heat stroke: confusion, dizziness, and fainting. Call 911 immediately if symptoms occur.
