Reno, Nevada – Triple-digit heat won’t let up in western Nevada on Tuesday, with Reno and surrounding cities staring down another blistering afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service in Reno, a Heat Advisory remains in effect until 11 a.m. Wednesday, with daytime highs Tuesday expected to hit 96°F in Reno and exceed 100°F in surrounding valleys. Monday’s peak reached 102°F. Low humidity, full sun, and little wind will maintain “Major HeatRisk” conditions, especially along I-580 and in communities like Fernley, Fallon, and Yerington.
Residents should limit outdoor activity between noon and 6 p.m. and drink water frequently. The risk of heat-related illness remains high, particularly for seniors, outdoor workers, and those without reliable air conditioning.
While Tuesday marks the final day of the advisory, heat lingers through the weekend. Wednesday brings only slight relief with highs around 95°F, and no rain is expected in the extended forecast. Winds may pick up slightly by Friday, but not enough to cool things down meaningfully.
This week’s prolonged heat could strain power grids and pose risks for vulnerable residents. Neighbors are encouraged to check on each other and avoid non-essential travel during peak heat hours.
