Reno, Nevada – Rain and wind return to Reno on Saturday as a storm system sweeps into northern Nevada, bringing gusts up to 25 mph and a 40% chance of afternoon showers.

According to the National Weather Service, Saturday’s storm window opens after 11 a.m., with snow levels starting near 8,300 feet before dropping to 7,600 feet. Though lower elevations will likely stay rain-free in the morning, mountain travelers should plan for slippery conditions and limited visibility later in the day. Winds from the west will intensify, peaking at 15 mph with gusts as high as 25 mph in exposed areas, especially along I-580 and U.S. 395.

Friday brings mostly sunny skies and calm conditions in Reno, with a high near 74°F. That reprieve won’t last long, however, as the weekend pattern shift will also drop Saturday night lows into the low 40s. Sunday rebounds quickly with sunshine and lighter winds—ideal for outdoor plans.

Looking ahead, next week brings a stretch of dry, summerlike temperatures, including Monday’s 72°F high and an 82°F Tuesday. By midweek, Reno is expected to hit 84°F by Thursday, marking one of the warmest stretches of the spring season so far.

Plan ahead if you’re heading to higher elevations or driving near Washoe Valley Saturday. Charge your phone, check tire pressure, and delay travel if thunderstorms intensify.

Winds and showers taper off by Saturday night. A full warm-up returns Sunday, with no major weather alerts expected through midweek.
