LAS VEGAS — The U.S. Postal Service is preparing for the busiest time of the year by offering extended retail hours.

Last year, the USPS processed over 9 billion pieces of mail during the holiday season, and this year, the numbers are expected to be high as well. In a recent news release, the postal service shared that it has already shipped more than two million packages this holiday season. As a result, the service said it has expanded its processing capacity to about 88 million packages per day, up from 60 million last holiday season.

To keep up with demand, some USPS locations, such as the James C. Brown Jr. location on Sunset Road, are open later. At James C. Brown, the self-service kiosk is available 12:01 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. daily, and the retail windows are open 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and until 4 p.m. on Saturdays.

All USPS locations will remain open on Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2025, and will close according to the location’s specific hours. The postal service will not be operating on Christmas Day or New Year’s Day.
