Las Vegas, Nevada – Outdoor plans across southern Nevada could be impacted Monday afternoon as gusty winds sweep into the Mojave National Preserve and Spring Mountains, with speeds reaching up to 30 MPH.

According to the National Weather Service Las Vegas, warm and mostly sunny conditions will dominate the region through Memorial Day. Temperatures will climb into the upper 90s and low 100s across the lower elevations, with Death Valley peaking at 103°F on Sunday and 102°F on Monday. Wind speeds are expected to remain light Sunday but increase Monday afternoon, with southwest gusts of 15–25 MPH in most areas and stronger gusts possible in higher terrain.

Popular recreation spots like Red Rock Canyon and Lake Mead will see highs near 88°F and 96°F respectively, while Mount Charleston offers cooler relief in the mid-70s. Visitors to Lake Havasu and Lake Mohave should also prepare for heat and sudden breezes, which may create hazardous conditions for boaters and hikers.

Officials urge outdoor enthusiasts to protect themselves from heat-related illness: stay hydrated, wear sun protection, and limit strenuous activity during peak heat hours.

Wind advisories could be issued if conditions intensify. Stay tuned for updates through Monday evening.
