LAS VEGAS – Gov. Joe Lombardo launched his re-election bid Monday in Nevada, one of the nation’s key battleground states.
The Republican governor kicked off his campaign at Rancho High School in Las Vegas, where he graduated in 1980. In his speech, Lombardo said he still had unfinished business with the state.
“Three years ago, I turned in my badge and asked for your trust and confidence to continue that mission as your governor,” Lombardo told supporters.
“That remains my motivation to keep Nevada safe, strong, and full of opportunity. We’ve accomplished a lot in the last three years, and serving as your governor has been one of the greatest honors of my life. Now, Donna and I would like to ask again for your support to finish the job we started,” he said.
Lombardo highlighted cutting more than 600 regulations and boosting annual job growth by 4% in 2022. He also touted delivering the largest education investment in state history. He framed his campaign as a defense against what he called the “left-wing agenda of Californians.”
Lombardo already faces Democratic challengers, including Attorney General Aaron Ford and Washoe County Commissioner Alexis Hill.
