Reno, Nevada – Scorching summer heat settles into northwestern Nevada this weekend, with Reno pushing 96°F by Sunday and no major relief in sight.

According to the National Weather Service, Saturday’s high will reach 94°F under sunny skies, with calm winds offering little cooling effect. Heat will intensify Sunday, topping out near 96°F before hovering in the low-to-mid 90s through early next week. Daytime travel, especially along I-80 and I-580 near Reno, may feel significantly hotter due to pavement heat.

City residents and visitors should limit strenuous activity between 1 and 5 p.m., stay hydrated, and use air conditioning if available. NWS guidance suggests little overnight cooling, with lows only dipping into the low 60s through Tuesday.

This extended dry pattern continues through July 2, raising concerns about fire danger and utility strain. Winds will remain light through Monday but may briefly gust near 25 mph Friday night. The air remains dry, with relative humidity lingering near 30%, adding to local wildfire vulnerability.

Looking Ahead:

  • Friday (June 27): High 91°F, sunny and dry
  • Saturday: High 94°F, calm winds, clear skies
  • Sunday: High 96°F, hottest day of the week
  • Monday: High 94°F, partly cloudy by night
  • Tuesday (July 2): High 92°F, continued heat
