Las Vegas, NV – A powerful winter storm is set to impact the higher elevations of Nevada and Eastern California, with heavy snowfall and strong winds expected from 10 p.m. Wednesday to 4 p.m. Friday.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Las Vegas, areas above 7,000 feet in the Eastern Sierra, White Mountains, Spring Mountains, and Sheep Rangecould see 12 to 30 inches of snow, with locally higher amounts on mountain peaks. Wind gusts could reach 60 mph along the Sierra crest and 50 mph in the Spring Mountains and Red Rock Canyon, creating hazardous travel conditions.

Eastern California: White Mountains, Inyo Mountains, Eastern Sierra Slopes (including Whitney Portal and Aspendell)

Nevada: Spring Mountains, Sheep Range, Red Rock Canyon (including Mt. Charleston and Hayford Peak)
